  • What are your interests outside of work?
Travelling is my favourite thing to do, whether that be abroad or to new places in the UK. I'm a huge foodie and enjoy trying new places to eat on my travels.

Hello, I’m Olivia D

My top advice for someone thinking about doing an apprenticeship at the moment is to ask lots of questions so you fully understand how they work and what is required. Also don't underestimate how an apprenticeship can give you a head-start in your career.

Tell us more about your experience

In my role I am in charge of putting together morale plans and campaigns, as well as being an onboarding champ and helping to manage our office spaces. I am proud to have worked in the onboarding team which welcomed 50 new apprentices to Microsoft. The most exciting project that I have worked on was a video project with colleagues across EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

I chose to do an apprenticeship because I wanted to continue learning, but I didn't want to go to university, so it was the perfect fit.

My college was very university-focused and didn't really know anyone doing an apprenticeship, so I felt a little alone at times and wondered if I was making the right decision. However, my boyfriend was doing one at the time and helped me through the process which was invaluable.

Microsoft have given me lots of support during my apprenticeship. I have a good structure to balance work and study and they always listen to understand my concerns, needs and requirements. My apprenticeship training provider, QA, has also provided lots of great resources and people on hand to help.
